🧩⚽ A missing piece in hamstring rehabilitation monitoring?
Between clinical tests and maximal on-pitch sprinting, there is often a gap in RTP: how to assess the hamstring–pelvis–contralateral hip flexor interaction at high speed, without actually sprinting?
This is where the Jurdan Sprint Table Test (JSTT) fits: it’s a logical progression before returning to the pitch, helping to bridge that critical phase.
🧪 New paper out
We report the real-world reliability of the JSTT using simple smartphone video analysis in an elite football team. Despite non-standardised conditions and staff rotation, the test showed moderate reliability and clear practical value, as a complementary tool within a multifactorial RTP framework (limitations acknowledged).
This paper also carries some history.
The data and manuscript were written ~3 years ago, but we deliberately waited, including for the publication of Andrea Astrella’s reliability work. This isa good reminder of how slow research can be, even when practices are already used in elite settings. Publishing in Sports Performance & Science Reports allowed us to finally share this work almost instantly, rather than waiting another 6–12 months 🙂
And some nostalgia too: these data come from Lille OSC, where we were already using and refining the JSTT years before it was publicly known, thanks to a great performance & medical team. Team photo👇
Finally, sincere thanks to Jurdan Mendiguchia. His ideas, clinical vision, and long-term work have shaped this test and, more importantly, have strongly influenced how many of us understand hamstring function, pelvic control, and injury management. His impact on the profession goes far beyond this paper.
