In our last paper, we describe contemporary techniques in the reconditioning of a football player following ACL reconstruction at @losclive
We aimed to not only rehabilitate his knee but also to mitigate fitness deconditioning using off-leg work; we also monitored the whole process using field-based measures.
🌡️ Heat as an Ergogenic Aid: We effectively implemented heat-based training during rehabilitation. This strategy minimized leg loading while maintaining conditioning levels, proving essential in counteracting reduced physical activity during recovery.
🏃♂️ Preserved Aerobic Speed: Remarkably, our athlete showed only a minimal decrease in maximal aerobic speed, much less than typically observed. This demonstrates the efficiency of our conditioning strategies in maintaining core athletic capabilities.
❤️ Fitness Adaptation Monitoring: We’ve employed heart rate responses to submaximal running tests in rehab for in-depth tracking of fitness loss and recovery.
📈 Adaptive Training with GPS and accelerometer data: This was especially crucial for addressing and adjusting knee issues during running, allowing for precise, daily customization of the rehab process.
Above all, it’s been an incredible and enjoyable collective process with all the staff involved. I am only the guy putting this together here 😊
