This study revisits the dose–response (D-R) relationship between heart rate–derived training load metrics and changes in high-intensity intermittent performance in Gaelic football players.

Key points:

  • First evidence that the physiological profile of the player (Endurance, Hybrid, Speed) shapes how training load relates to adaptation.

  • Confirms that heart rate monitoring remains a valuable tool, particularly for endurance-type athletes.

  • Highlights the limitations of “one-size-fits-all” monitoring models, underlining the need for individualized approaches, as always!!!

This publication also serves as a preview of a forthcoming larger multi-team study, which will expand on these findings with more data and a wider group of co-authors. Stay tuned 🙂
