Abstract
Sports Science 3.0 integrates modern technology and AI with foundational training principles to enhance athlete performance. This paper critiques current practices where superficial trends overshadow deeper scientific understanding, emphasizing the need for evidence-informed rather than merely evidence-based approaches. Topics covered include the tendency of practitioners to scratch the surface of new research without fully understanding its implications, as exemplified by recent trends in isometric exercises, Zone 2 training, and the misuse of GPS data. The paper also discusses the overlooked benefits of heat training and highlights the importance of addressing the research-practice gap. By revisiting core principles and promoting a balanced, comprehensive methodology, the paper advocates for a more practical and effective application of sports science in real-world settings.
